It was a hot and humid July 2016 morning when I set out to document the 5th annual WitchsFest in lower Manhattan. This year it was probably the busiest it has ever been. In the sea of feathers, horns and wings I saw a lot of familiar faces and met some new ones.

Wiccan Family Temple was there, Avalon Grove was there, Temple of Thelema among many others.

But the list of vendors, religious groups and much more you can find at WitchsFest website. The purpose of this post is to show what happened at the fair… and oh, it happened.  During the free classes offered by Pagan community’s known presenters: Rev. Don Lewis, Starr Ravenhawn, Christopher Penczac, Lexa Rosen, Courtney Weber and others, these guys showed up…And would not stop screaming their own truth about their own god…Here is the close up.

Police could not do anything about them. But show had to go on…

And little by little, while fanatics where screaming their voices off, the crowd formed their own response. The street punks moved in with their stuff and signs, witches made their own banners to hold and fair attendees started drawing pentagrams and sigils by their feet. And Satan did show up…

And he even joined the closing ritual.
