FROM A FULL MOON TO A FULL MOON
Opening reception: Saturday, November 5, 2022, 5-9pm
Captivated and mesmerized by the eternal, mystical power of the Moon, we, like two sleep-walking witches, followed the Moon all year round, trying to capture its magic – one with the camera, the other one with wide-open eyes and heart.
What we captured, we framed.
In other words, this exhibit was born out of an interest in the ancient Baltic worldview, paganism, mythology, ethnography, anthropology, astronomy and astro-landscape photography. This interest led to continuously analyzing the lunar calendar, following Moon phases through apps, or simply meditating in front of the full Moon and translating those experiences into experiments with various artistic expressions, not to mention herbalism and even wine making.
Besides, this exhibition is a visual duo, a creative experiment. It is an attempt to convey our personal perceptions, visions and interpretations of the Moon through photographs, videos and various art techniques, including playing with symbols, poetic penetrations, dreams, states of mind, diary reflections, as well as conceptual and abstract thinking.
It is a creative offering to the Moon.
Our kind of Lunography.
